If you’re an avid Instagram user, chances are you’ve come across some accounts with a little blue checkmark next to the username. This little blue tick is Instagram’s indication that the account is verified. While it may
seem insignificant at first glance, this badge actually means that Instagram has confirmed that the account is an authentic page of a public figure, celebrity, or global brand. In today’s world of social media influencers, receiving a verified badge is desirable, so other users know you’re a significant figure on the platform.
However, scammers are taking advantage of the appeal of being Instagram verified as a way to convince users that they are important influencers, and people should follow their lead if they want to have a better life!
So let us begin with how do these scammers use non liquet situations to get the verified badge?
To name an example for this matter this guy named “Mehdi Mobarakeh” was a real estate agent in Turkey last year, he rented a Bentley car this year, ordered some fake English articles, another Arabic article to be published in Wikipedia and Introduced himself as a lifestyle influencer to Instagram and now he’s got the blue tick.
So why do they need this verified badge? What do they do with it?
Some of them like the one we mentioned, they run gambling and betting websites and pretend that’s how their life got so good. (Which is not at first, but after their done with their followers they will have all the money we say how)
They encourage their followers to participate and put their money in so they can take a lot more, which is entirely NOT TRUE!
Two things may happen here, either they put their money in and lose all because the website is designed for that or they fall into the trap of phishing!
Gambling is illegal in Iran, but they are running those websites from Turkey or other countries, so they don’t have any registered company.
In conclusion, people shouldn’t trust all verified accounts to stay safe from these scammers, and Instagram should be more careful and pay more attention to these people and the security of its users.
